WAITAKI HOTEL PAST
Construction of the historic bridges across the Waitaki in the 1880s led to the rapid development of Kurow and the surrounding area.
Kurow had been the railhead since 1881, and many of its historically important limestone buildings trace their origins to this bustling era. Another stage in development arrived with the construction of the Waitaki Dam in the late 20s and early 30s.

...AND PRESENT
In 1860 the Hotel was built and known as The Bridge Hotel. This hotel was in Station Street and was burnt down in 1907 - 1908. The Waitaki Hotel (built in 1940) replaced The Bridge Hotel. It was built with the Art Deco feel of the era following the Waitaki Dam design.

From our time in mid-2022, we have a vision to quickly become known as the most notable hotel in the heart of Kurow. From our craft beers and local wines to our ever-changing spirits lineup, we have everything you need to have a great night out.
